1. PURPOSE The purpose of this section command memorandum is to ensure that communication is established and maintained with all units assigned to the Airport Section throughout each watch.
2. POLICY
It is the policy of the Atlanta Police Department-Airport Section to attempt, in all possible areas, to insure the safety of its employees.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 It is the responsibility of each watch commander to ensure that the procedures established in this Section Command Memorandum are followed.
4. ACTION
4.1 The watch commander will instruct the communications dispatchers to "Call the Roll" twice per shift at random times.
4.2 The dispatcher will call the roll and make a note on his/her "Daily Activity Sheet" of the times.
4.3 If an employee fails to respond, the dispatcher will repeat the call a second time. If there is no response the second time, the dispatcher will immediately notify the on duty supervisor and will log the time and radio number of the employee not responding. The dispatcher will then continue to call the roll.
4.4 The on duty supervisor will immediately place a look out for any employee who fails to answer.
4.5 The watch commander will submit weekly reports to the section commander providing a monitoring report listing:
4.5.1 Date and time of Random Radio
Checks. 4.5.2 Listing of a noncompliance.
1. Name of officer. 2. Time the roll call was initialized and time
the officer was located. 3. Reason, if any, why the officer did not
respond. 4. Any action taken, by the supervisor, to correct the non-response.
