The intent of this directive is to establish the procedure by which Atlanta Retired Police Reserve (ARPR) members will perform their volunteer service hours with the Atlanta Police Department.
Members of the ARPR will perform their voluntary service hours in law enforcement related activities, under the direction of the Field Inspection Section (FIS) commander.
3.1 The Field Inspections Section (FIS) will be responsible for monitoring, tracking, and recording volunteer service hours performed by ARPR members.
3.2 FIS will develop, maintain, and update the Calendar of Events/Activities for ARPR members.
3.3 FIS will be responsible for the deployment of ARPR members.
3.4 Atlanta Retired Police Reserve (ARPR) members will perform voluntary service hours as directed by the FIS.
4.1 FIS will create and maintain a Calendar of Events and Activities that reserve officers can use for performing volunteer service hours.
4.1.1 FIS will determine how many reserve officers are needed at specific events and activities as determined by the Calendar of Events/Activities.
4.1.2 FIS will request a schedule of events/activities and help needed from each zone and section within the Atlanta Police Department to determine the need for volunteer service.
4.1.3 Reserve officers will call FIS to request to perform volunteer service hours.
4.1.4 Reserve officers will only perform voluntary service hours under the direction and command of FIS. All volunteer service hours must be approved by FIS prior to being performed.
4.1.5 FIS will notify the worksite in which the volunteer service hours will be performed. The notification will identify the reserve officer(s) and the dates and times that he or she will work.
4.1.6 The reserve officer will report to work site and perform volunteer service hours. Reserve officers will provide the supervisor at the work site with Form APD.229 to document voluntary service hours performed.
4.1.7 The supervisor at the work site will forward copies Form APD.229, Reserve Officer Time and Utilization Report, to FIS within seven (7) days.
4.1.8 The reserve officer will maintain a copy of the signed volunteer worksheet for his/her own records.
4.1.9 FIS will document the volunteer service hours performed by reserve officers.
4.1.10 FIS will notify reserve officers when they have completed all of their required voluntary service hours.
