1.                PURPOSE

 

                  The purpose of this Section Command Memorandum is to establish a procedure for Atlanta Police Airport Section Employees to park their P.O.V. at the airport.  It also establishes procedures for obtaining approval to park at the airport.

 

2.                POLICY

 

Employees assigned to the Atlanta Police Department Airport Section will park their P.O.V. in designated area only.

 

3.                RESPONSIBILITIES

 

3.1              It is the responsibility of the Watch Commander to insure that this Section Command Memorandum is strictly adhered to.

 

3.2              It is the responsibility of the Watch Commander to randomly check the Airport Section Employee parking lot and the terminal curbside areas to insure compliance with this Section Command Memorandum.

 

4.                ACTION

 

4.1              All employees assigned to the Atlanta Police Department Airport Section will park their P.O.V. in their designated area.  They will park their vehicle in compliance with all State and City Laws, ordinances and rules governing such parking. 

 

4.2              The Department of Aviation will assign designated parking areas.

 

4.3              The Airport Police Section Commander or his designee will issue each employee a parking card and parking permit in compliance with guidelines set forth by the Department of Aviation.

 

4.3.1           Each employee is responsible for his/her issued parking card and parking permit. In the event parking card and/or parking permit is damaged/stolen a replacement will be provided.  In the case of a stolen parking card and or parking permit, an approved police report will be required before replacement.

 

4.3.2           In the event a parking card and or parking permit is lost or misplaced; the Department of Aviation requires a $25.00 replacement fee for each item.  The fee is the responsibility of the employee.

 

4.3.3           At all times when a P.O.V. is parked at the Airport, the parking permit will be placed on the windshield's rear view mirror or placed in the vehicle so it is clearly visible through the front windshield.

 

4.4              An employee's P.O.V. found parked in an area other than their assigned designated area will be treated as illegally parked vehicle.

 

4.5              Any employee found in violation of this Section Command Memorandum will be considered in violation of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department and shall be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action.

 

5.               DEFINITIONS

 

5.1              POV: Any vehicle owned or operated by an employee that is not a city owned vehicle.

 

5.2              Assigned Designated Area: A parking area assigned by the Department of Aviation for employees to park their P.O.V.
