1.               PURPOSE

 

This order summarizes new directives and revisions to existing ones. The full text to all directive contain can be found on the Horizon intranet site at “http://horizon”. 

 

2.               POLICY

 

The Atlanta Police Department will keep its written directives up to date and promptly notify affected employees.

 

3.               RESPONSIBILITIES

 

                  Bureau, division, and section commanders will implement these changes in their commands, making sure that affected employees are notified.

4.1.1           APD.SOP.2022 Early Warning System
 

1.    Section 4.1.2 was amended as follows:

 

The Office of Professional Standards will monitor its records and will initiate the review process by making the proper notification when it becomes aware that any employee has a record of one or more of the following conditions:

 

1.    Four citizen complaints, whether sustained or not, filed against the employee within a six month period;

 

2.    Any allegation of domestic violence involving the employee, whether as victim or primary aggressor;

 

3.    Two sustained unauthorized force allegations within a year, four within three years, six within five years;

 

4.    Any discernible pattern of repeated similar complaints, whether sustained or not, against the employee within a year;

 

5.    Three or more firearm discharges within a six month period or four or more within a twelve month period;

 

6.    Any act or threat of violence by an employee toward another employee or employees.
