1.               PURPOSE

 

This order summarizes revisions to existing directives. The full text to all current directives can be found on the Horizon intranet site at “http://horizon”. 

 

2.               POLICY

 

The Atlanta Police Department will keep its written directives up to date and promptly notify affected employees.

 

3.               RESPONSIBILITIES

 

                  Bureau, division, and section commanders will implement these changes in their commands, making sure that affected employees are notified.

4.1              Updated Directives

 

4.1.1           APD.SOP.3030 Arrest Procedures

 

 1.   Prisoners Transported to Grady Hospital, APD officers will:

 

a.    Notify their immediate supervisor of the prisoner transport to Grady Hospital;

 

b.    Request that the dispatcher notify the Grady Detention Facility to dispatch a corrections officer to meet them upon arrival, and

 

c.    Communicate to the detention officer the nature of the charges against the transported prisoner. 

 

4.1.2           APD.SOP.2131 Collection of Department Equipment

 

1.    Throughout this directive, language referring to “Reserve commander” was changed to reflect “Field Inspection Section (FIS) commander.”  All references to “Atlanta Reserve Police Program” were revised to reflect “Atlanta Retired Police Reserve.” All references to “Pressing Club” were revised to reflect “Uniform Depot.”

 

2.    Section 3.7, language was added to reflect “the disciplinary authority will collect equipment where applicable.” 

 

3.    Section 4.1.2 was revised to ensure that employees that were issued a .40 caliber weapon return the storage container (blue plastic case), the gunlock, and all three magazines that were issued with the weapon.  “Blauer or leather jacket” was changed to reflect “Duty jacket.” 

 

4.    Section 4.7.1 was amended to include .40 caliber.
