3.               RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1              The Chief of Police will designate when a particular individual is to be provided with executive protection and will approve executive protection plans. When an executive protection detail is assigned to a unit other than EPU, the Chief will designate the supervisor of that detail.

3.2              The EPU commander will be responsible for: the coordination of executive protection details and City Hall security; conferring with the Mayor on how the EPU can best respond to the security needs associated with the Office of the Mayor; reporting directly to the CID commander. The EPU commander will have the authority to adjust working hours when necessary to meet the needs of the unit.

3.3              The EPU supervisor is responsible for monitoring all city police vehicles assigned to the Mayor’s Office to ensure that they remain in a state of readiness at all times.

3.4              The Special Operations Section (SOS) commander will assist with executive protection details as outlined in this directive.
