The purpose of this directive is to identify the proper uniform for sworn employees in the Auto Theft Task Force Unit (ATTF). This will decrease the likelihood of jeopardizing their safety, creating uniformity and making them recognizable as the personnel of the ATTF.
The Atlanta Police Department will establish uniformity for sworn employees in the ATTF.
3.1 The Unit commander will ensure that all ATTF supervisors and employees are aware of the ATTF uniform policy.
3.2 The Auto Theft Task Force supervisors will insure that employees adhere to the ATTF uniform policy.
3.3 Employees assigned to the ATTF will adhere to the ATTF uniform policy.
4.1 The ATTF will wear the Black BDU pants, black t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, the nylon gun belt and black raid vest with the word "Police" spelled out on the front and "Atlanta Police" spelled out on the back of the vest. The words shall be in yellow or fluorescent writing as to be readily visible from a distance. The authorized footwear will be black boots as according to APD.SOP.2130 “Dress Code,” Section 4.3.12.
4.2 Employees assigned to the ATTF may wear coveralls at the discretion of the supervisor (for example, to prevent damage to the uniform when investigating under a vehicle). The coveralls will have an Atlanta Police patch and an ATTF rocker on each shoulder, an embroidered cloth badge patch on the left breast pocket, and an embroidered cloth nameplate on the right breast pocket.
