1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this section command memorandum is to establish procedures for the issuance; inventory and collection of Radio Batteries and Chargers issued by the Airport Section.
2. POLICY
It is the policy of the Atlanta Police Department Airport Section to issue needed equipment to employees, maintain an inventory of issued equipment and collect all equipment upon the employees transfer or separation from employment.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 It is the responsibility of each employee to report for work with a fully charged battery and a functional radio.
3.2 It is the responsibility of each employee to keep all issued equipment clean and operational.
3.3 It is the responsibility of each employee to immediately make a written report of any lost or damaged equipment.
3.4 It is the responsibility of each employee to immediately report any non-functional equipment to his/her supervisor.
3.5 It is the responsibility of employees, upon transfer from the airport section or separation from employment, to turn in the Airport Section issued charger and batteries that are assigned to them.
3.6 It is the responsibility of supervisors to conduct periodic inspection of each employee to insure that employees have all issued equipment and his/her radio is operational and fully charged.
4. ACTION
4.1 Atlanta Police Airport Section Employees will be issued two 7.5 Nickel-Cadmium Batteries and one individual battery charger.
4.2 Each battery charger will be identified with a unique identifying number.
4.3 Atlanta Police Airport Section Employees will sign a property control form acknowledging receipt of two batteries and a battery charger.
4.4 The Airport Section Issued batteries will not be swapped with the zones or any other section batteries.
4.5 Airport section employees will turn in the batteries and battery charger, which is issued to them, upon transfer or separation from employment.
