To modify guidelines governing the uniform and equipment authorized to be worn by the School Detectives Unit. (CALEA 5th ed. standard 26.1.1)
Personnel who work the Evening Watch and the Morning Watch shifts, and those who work weekend alarm duty may modify their uniform and equipment as authorized by this Command Memorandum.
3.1 Supervisors will ensure that School Detective employees comply with this directive during the specified shifts, and will initiate immediate corrective action if uniform violations are discovered.
4.1 General
4.1.1 Employees will be clean and neatly groomed to present a professional image in representing the Atlanta Police Department while assigned to the School Detectives Unit.
4.1.2 The guidelines in this directive are for on duty personnel who work the Evening Watch and Morning Watch shifts, and those who work the Saturday and Sunday weekend alarm duty.
4.1.3 The Class-A uniform will continue to be worn when assigned to normal business hours, formal public activities, and extra jobs as set forth in APD.SOP.2130 “Dress Code”.
4.1.4 Employees who choose the modification must adhere to the entire modification to be in compliance with the Directive. No mixing and matching of uniforms is permitted.
4.2 The Modification
4.2.1 The uniform modification will be as follows:
1. Employees may wear the Departmental-approved polo-style shirt (commonly known as the bike shirt) with an Atlanta Police patch on each shoulder, an embroidered cloth badge on the left breast, and an embroidered name plate on the right breast. All embroidery will be silver for officer and investigators, and gold for supervisors.
2. Long navy blue BDU style tactical pants will be worn.
3. The equipment belt and gear will be black nylon webbing.
4. Black approved leather boots will be worn.
