The intent of this directive is to establish a uniform procedure for employees of the Field Operations Division for impounding marked utility vehicles (example: AT&T, Georgia Power, Atlanta Gas Light, etc.)
The Atlanta Police Department will ensure that enforcement is conducted uniformly and equitably.
3.1 All Supervisors will monitor the impounding of utility vehicles to ensure compliance with this directive.
4.1 Whenever an employee advises a supervisor via police radio that he/she will impound a vehicle, the supervisor must be advised:
a. the location of the impound, b. the reason for the impound, c. that it is a marked utility vehicle and d. the utility company.
4.1.1 When the supervisor hears the information via police radio, he/she must go to the location prior to the impound.
4.1.2 The supervisor will determine if the marked utility vehicle should be impounded.
