The intent of this directive is to ensure that every effort is make to secure sensitive equipment.
All City Equipment is to be properly maintained and stored in a safe place.
3.1 The zone/section commander will ensure that this directive is adhered to.
3.2 Officers with take home vehicles will follow this directive.
4.1 The Chief of Police or designee must authorize take home vehicles.
4.2 Officers who store sensitive equipment (ie, weapons, ammunition, chemical devices/canisters, tactical vests, tasers, entry equipment) in take home vehicles must be authorized to have access to that equipment.
4.2.1 Officer who has authorization to store sensitive equipment in a take home vehicle must park the vehicle in a secure area.
4.2.2 When parked at officer’s residence, the vehicle must be locked and parked in a locked garage, if available.
