This order summarizes revised directives. The full text to all current directives can be found on the Horizon intranet site at “http://horizon”.
The Atlanta Police Department will keep its written directives up to date and promptly notify affected employees.
Bureau, division, and section commanders will implement these changes in their commands, making sure that affected employees are notified.
4.1.1 APD.SO.08.08 Weapons Mounted Lights
1. This directive addresses training and issuance of weapon-mounted light systems for the Smith and Wesson Model M&P 40.40 caliber pistol.
4.2.1 APD.SOP.1031 Forms Management
Sections 4.1.3, 4.2 and 4.2.1 were added to state:
4.1.3 Special attention will be given to the layout of the form to ensure design guidelines are met.
4.2 Numbering System
4.2.1 Issuing of numbers
1. The Planning and Research/Accreditation Unit will issue all form numbers in the following format: “Form APD. XXX.”
2. The approval authority will request in writing from the Planning and Research/Accreditation Unit that a form number be assigned to the form.
3. The Planning and Research /Accreditation Unit will reply to the approval authority with the electronic version of the form, along with the corresponding form number attached.
4.2.2 APD.SOP.2081 Training Reimbursement and Collection Procedure
1. Section 3.2 was revised to change the Personnel Service Unit commander to the MSO director.
2. Section 4.4 was revised to add that if the initial check of P.O.S.T. records does not disclose the former APD Officer is employed by another law enforcement agency in Georgia, the MSO director will run biannual status checks until the two year time requirement expires on each affected former employee.
