1.               PURPOSE

 

This order summarizes revisions to existing directives and new directives. The full text to all current directives can be found on the Horizon intranet site at “http://horizon”. 

 

2.               POLICY

 

The Atlanta Police Department will keep its written directives up to date and promptly notify affected employees.

 

3.               RESPONSIBILITIES

 

3.1              Bureau, division, and section commanders will implement these changes in their commands, making sure that affected employees are notified.

4.1.1           APD.SO.12.03 Written Directive Update May 2012

 

1.    This order summarizes revisions to existing directives and new directives.

 

4.1.2           APD.SOP.2190 R1 Atlanta Police Retired Reserve

 

1.    This notice amends “APD.SOP.2190 Atlanta Police Retired Reserve.”  The following was added:  Section 4.3.3 addresses retired reserve officer’s prohibited duties while performing volunteer service hours and subsection 4.6.10 requiring the drivers’ license.  The written directive now reads:

 

a.    Authorize retired reserve officers to operate city vehicles;

 

b.    Prohibit retired reserve officers from working undercover or in plain clothes while on an extra job or while performing volunteer service hours.

 

c.    Require retired reserve officers operating city vehicles to have a valid Georgia drivers’ license in their possession.

 

 4.1.3          APD.SOP.3080 R1 General Procedures

 

1.    This revision notice amends, APD.SOP.3080 General Procedures, the following were added:

 

a.    Paragraph 11 to Sub-section “4.6.5 Precautions” and

 

b.    Definitions for Tuberculosis and Meningitis to “Section 5 Definitions.”

 

4.2              Updated Directives

 

4.2.1           APD.SOP.2081 Training Reimbursement and Collection Procedure

 

1.    This directive was developed throughout in compliance with Standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) 5th Edition.

 

2.    Only minor changes of a grammatical nature were made.  No changes to the meaning of any section or the policy as a whole were made.

 

4.2.2           APD.SOP.3130 Radio Operations / Usage

 

1.    This directive was developed throughout in compliance with Standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) 5th Edition.

 

2.    Section 4.1.2 was revised to include:

 

       Each Division Commander or Section Commander where applicable shall cause the proper disposition of the radio assignment numbers and make notification to the Communication Section.
